Mercury is a type of elemental metal found in the Earth’s crust that’s toxic to humans. Mercury pollution usually occurs in specific industries such as natural gas exploration, mining, and coal-fired power plants. Under the Minamata Convention, signatory countries are obliged to report their state of mercury pollution and control measures in place.
With more than 20 years of experience, Envea provides specific continuous Mercury measurement adapted to process conditions allowing a very high reactivity over a very wide measuring range, with the possibility to measure Mercury speciation (Hg° (elementary) / Hg2+ (ionic) / Hg Total) for the optimization of the Hg flue gas treatment.
SM4/5 Mercury CEMS
SM-4 is a QAL1 certified Mercury CEMS for continuous, accurate and reliable measurement of total mercury emissions, even in very low concentrations and within complex matrices (SO2, NOx, HCl, etc.) With over 20 years experience, Mercury Instruments (part of ENVEA Group) were the first to develop mercury monitors and mercury analyzers using a dry thermocatalytic method instead of wet chemistry.
SM-4 sampling system – composed of the probe, the dilution unit and the low temperature catalytic converter – is entirely heated to avoid mercury adsorption. Sample dilution directly at sampling point, allowing for large measuring range & elimination of interferences from matrix gases, no transport of ionic Hg.
SM-4 requires very low maintenance (service interval: ≥ 3 months) – can be automated.
UT-3000 Mercury Ultratracer
UT-3000 measures Total Gaseous Mercury (TGM) in air and other gases. It uses Amalgamation (MI GoldTrap), cold vapor atomic absorption (CVAAS) at 253.7 nm, and is reliable for measurements at ultra-trace levels (sub-ng/m3) according to EN 15852.
The UT-3000 operates automatically. All functions are controlled by an embedded microprocessor. When measurements are carried out, all parameters and results are stored in the integrated data logger. With standard settings the data logger has a recording capacity of 5000 measurements (approx. 2 months).
UT-3000 is typically used for air quality monitoring to ensure safety of coal-fired power plants and natural gas exploration sites. It can also be used for purity control in process industries involving the use of Mercury, such as Mercury CV Profiling technique.
MC-3000 Mercury Calibrator
The MC-3000 generates a continuous stream of a mercury vapor loaded gas in order to check or calibrate mercury analyzers.
An exactly adjustable carrier gas stream (normally air or nitrogen) is loaded with mercury in a first step.
In a second step the gas is supersaturated by cooling. Subsequently the excess mercury is condensed in a special cell to get exact saturation. The gas is then diluted, the dilution ratio is continuously adjustable in order to obtain concentrations within a specific range.
